Reborn After Widowhood

Reborn After Widowhood – Chapter 88

Chapter 88

After Chen Jingzong said the “cruel words”, he lay down again.

If Hua Yang could be heartless enough to let him sleep on the floor in the middle of winter, she wouldn’t have taken the initiative to talk to him just now.

Knowing that Chen Jingzong was still waiting for her to take the initiative to ask him to move back to the bed, Hua Yang refused to satisfy his wish: “You go and sleep on the couch in the side room. This way you don’t have to catch the cold and make your parents misunderstand that I treat you harshly, and it can also prove that you’re not person who is obsessed with lust.”

Chen Jingzong: “It’s too far away. It has to be proven right under your nose.”

Hua Yang: “My eyelids have to be closed at night. Maybe you will sneak out while I’m asleep. In other words, you can’t prove it no matter what.”

Chen Jingzong was silent.

Hua Yang secretly laughed to see how else he could reply.

After a while, she heard Chen Jingzong stand up and walked out of the babu bed. Because Hua Yang was facing the inside of the bed, she didn’t know what Chen Jingzong did, but the footsteps did not go to the door.

Soon, Chen Jingzong came back and suddenly opened the quilt at Hua Yang’s feet.

Hua Yang subconsciously wanted to shrink her feet, but Chen Jingzong grabbed her right ankle and immediately wrap something around it.

Hua Yang: “What are you doing?”

Chen Jingzong: “I’ll tie our legs together so that if I want to slip away in the middle of the night, you’ll know.”

Hua Yang:……

Chen Jingzong: “By the way, you’re usually sleep very deeply so you won’t notice if I untie it secretly. I need to add something else.”

After saying that, he touched Hua Yang’s pillow, found the golden bell she used to summon the maids, and inserted it into a buckle of the belt.

Hua Yang didn’t want him to mess around, so she kept struggling with her legs.

The golden bell rang as she struggled, over and over again. Inside the bed curtains in the dark night, it was quite ambiguous.

The four maids were outside, looking at each other. Chao Yue was the boldest and asked tentatively: “Princess, do you want us to come in and serve you?”

Chen Jingzong seemed not to have heard, and used both hands to tie the two’s legs tightly. As long as Hua Yang didn’t struggle, it wouldn’t strangled her.

Hua Yang had already stopped moving when she heard Chao Yue’s voice. Looking at Chen Jingzong who was already lying down next to her, Hua Yang pursed her lips and raised her voice: “Retreat. There’s no need to keep night watch tonight.”

The four maids immediately understood that the princess and prince consort had reconciled. This prince consort was quite capable of getting the princess to favor him. Look, how long had it been since he went in?

When the sound of closing door sounded outside, Hua Yang scolded: “Untie it.”

Chen Jingzong did not move.

Hua Yang wanted to untie it herself, so she raised one of her arms, but Chen Jingzong pulled her down again.

Because he wanted to prevent her from moving again, he changed from lying flat on his back to lying on his side, his long and powerful arms fixed around her waist like ropes, and his warm breath blew against her earlobes and temples.

Hua Yang tilted her head awkwardly.

Chen Jingzong: “If I were just lustful, I could pounce on you right now.”

In the middle of the night, it was not suitable for discussing childbirth or explaining this matter.

Hua Yang ignored him.

Chen Jingzong slowly let go of his hand and lay back down again.

How could Hua Yang really sleep with her legs tied, urging: “Okay, I believe you are not a lustful person, please quickly untie your belt.”

Chen Jingzong: “You don’t believe it, you just compromise.”

Hua Yang paused and said, “I really believe it.”

He had the thickest skin and there was nothing he dare not take on. If he wasn’t bound by etiquette, nothing her parent-in-law say would make him feel ashamed. Therefore, if Chen Jingzong was really the kind of person who casually called ancestor to any beauty, he would not stay in the guard station for so long just because of her sarcasm, and even gave up the happy things he loved to do most.

Chen Jingzong: “It’s useless to say that. I won’t believe it until you swear an oath.”

Hua Yang was not very happy: “What oath?”

If he dared to make her swear a poisonous oath, don’t even think about sleeping in her room again.

Chen Jingzong: “Just say that if you don’t really believe it, Heaven will punish you to marry me in your next life.”

Hua Yang:……

She had been married to him for two lifetimes in a row, and she would be tied to him again in the next life?

But she was telling the truth, and naturally such an oath would not come true.

Feeling the belt around her ankles, Hua Yang swore this oath quite uprightly.

True to his word, Chen Jingzong untied his belt and took off the golden bell.

After putting down the bell, Chen Jingzong walked out of the babu bed again and lit a copper lamp.

Hua Yang turned around and saw him walking to the box where the things were usually stored.

Hua Yang:……

When Chen Jingzong opened the trunk, he immediately discovered that there was an extra box inside, which was almost exactly the same as the box where the treasure was placed.

Chen Jingzong looked at the bed before opening the box. Sure enough, it contained the same “treasures”. There were still fifty pieces of them, which could be used for about two years.

Chen Jingzong smiled, took one out of the old box, and soaked it in warm water.

This lotus bowl was specially made so that water could stay warm for a long time. Otherwise, with so many plates and dishes, he wouldn’t specifically choose this.

When it was ready, Chen Jingzong turned off the lights and returned to the bed.

Hua Yang snorted lightly.

Chen Jingzong pressed her body and held her hand: “I know what you’re thinking. I really have no idea about women outside. I only see you and think of you. Just now, you didn’t believe me, so I have to find a way to prove it. Now that you believe me, why should I endure it?”

Hua Yang: “Close…”

Before she could finish speaking, another word was swallowed by Chen Jingzong.

The night was as dark as ink, and the wind was freezing outside the window.

When almost all the people in the city were still asleep, Hua Yang was woken up by Chen Jingzong.

There was still some awkwardness between the two before going to bed. Now, half asleep and half awake, Hua Yang could only feel Chen Jingzong’s strong shoulders and arms, and the familiar blazing chest.

She hugged him unconsciously.

It’s too cold in winter, but it would be much warmer when two people slept together.

There was a copper lamp beside the bed, and the princess was enveloped by a soft and dim halo. She was still sleepy, but her cheeks were already stained with blush, as if the light had quietly smeared the most beautiful rouge on her face.

Chen Jingzong put one hand on his side and held her face with the other, not allowing her to hide, and just kept looking at her.

Hua Yang always kept her eyes closed.

Her eyelashes were moist, beads of sweat appeared on her forehead and the tip of her nose, and her thin eyebrows were slightly frowned.

Her lips remained open, humming softly and heavily.

Chen Jingzong kissed her until she was almost out of breath and then let go, repeated over and over again.

After it was over, Chen Jingzong gave her water first.

After putting down the tea cup, he hugged her into his arms and stroked her hair.

Hua Yang said softly: “What time is it?”

Chen Jingzong: “Lie down for a while longer. It’s time for me to leave.”

Hua Yang looked out the window, it was pitch black.

She advised him again: “Just live in the guard station. I will explain it clearly to Mother so that they don’t misunderstand.”

Chen Jingzong: “I’m willing to make the journey. Also I’m not as delicate as you think, a person who can’t stand a bit of wind.”

Hua Yang didn’t say anymore.

Chen Jingzong: “I want more tonight, so prepare in advance.”

Hua Yang:…

Chen Jingzong smiled, let her go, lifted the quilt then went out.

He turned off the light before leaving. Hua Yang’s whole body felt sore and lazy, and soon fell asleep again.

This sleep lasted until the third pole of the sun.

Even without her saying anything, the four maids knew that the prince consort was in favor again!

In the evening, Hua Yang had dinner and went to bed early.

Chao Yun looked at the lotus bowl next to the dressing table and couldn’t help but ask: “Princess, won’t Prince Consort come back tonight?”

Hua Yang was just lying down, not sleepy, and said calmly: “He should be back soon, just leave a light for him outside.”

Chao Yun complied. Wondering in her heart, is the princess still angry with prince consort, not completely reconciled?

But that thing has been soaked. Could it be that the princess only cares about prince consort’s body, and does not want to give him a good face, lest he become arrogant again in the future?

A quarter of an hour after xushi (7-9pm), Chen Jingzong finally came back. Because of the howling north wind, the horse ran slower than usual.

After taking a bath, Chen Jingzong came to the back yard and frowned when he saw that the inner room was dark.

Realizing that she was really not in the side room, Chen Jingzong picked up a lamp and came to the inner room. He stood by the hanging gauze curtain of the bed and looked inside, and asked tentatively: “Sleeping?”

Hua Yang: “I’m not asleep yet.”

Her voice didn’t seem to be sleepy in Chen Jingzong’s ears, so he walked in.

He looked to the side of the dressing table. There was the lotus bowl and that thing was soaking inside.

Chen Jingzong put down the lamp, sat by the bed, looked at her lazy appearance, and asked: “Is it because you were tired at dawn, so you got sleepy early?”

Hua Yang: “A little bit, recently I used to go to bed after dinner, and it still the same after you come back. There’s nothing strange about it.”

Chen Jingzong didn’t like this. He liked her to stay in the side room, reading or fiddling with needlework, and then accompanied him eating.

Thinking about it, Chen Jingzong suddenly understood that she was willing to wait for him in the past. But because he ran to live in the guard station in anger and never came back, there was no need for her to wait any longer, so she developed a new habit.

Or maybe she didn’t develop a new habit, she just angry and deliberately didn’t wait for him.

Chen Jingzong suddenly pinched Hua Yang’s face.

Hua Yang had never been a thin beauty, and her cheeks were rounder than those of ordinary beauties. She was instantly pinched by Chen Jingzong.

It hurt a little. Hua Yang hit his hand, and glared at him with a pair of sparkling eyes. It was very clear and full of anger, there was no trace of sleepiness at all.

Chen Jingzong became more and more certain that she was angry with him for not returning home for so long.

“I see you don’t seem sleepy at all.”

Facing Hua Yang’s glare, Chen Jingzong smiled instead. After saying this, without giving Hua Yang time to react, he actually picked up Hua Yang with the quilt and strode out.

Hua Yang was wrapped in the brocade quilt by him, unable to move her arms and legs, and said angrily: “Where are you going to carry me?”

Chen Jingzong didn’t say anything, and went out of the inner room, and met Chao Yun and Chao Lu who were coming in with the food.

The two maids were dumbfounded. Hua Yang lowered her eyes and pursed her lips, but her ears were red.

Chao Yun and Chao Lu reacted quickly. Immediately placed prince consort’s food on the low table on the couch and hurriedly retreated.

Chen Jingzong then placed Hua Yang on the west side of the couch, where she often leaned and read.

“Just lie here and watch me eat.”

Hua Yang sneered: “Do you look good when you eat? Why should I look at you?”

Chen Jingzong: “I want to see you. You look like a fairy. With you here, my food tastes even better.”

Hua Yang turned around and lay on her side with her back to him.

Chen Jingzong sat at the low table and poured himself a glass of warm wine while looking at her.

“My birthday is near, right?”

Halfway through eating, Chen Jingzong suddenly asked.

Hua Yang still turned her back to him: “You yourself don’t remember, who are you asking?”

Chen Jingzong: “Your majestic Princess, could it be you want to give me a birthday gift?”

Hua Yang remained silent.

Chen Jingzong: “Never mind, it’s because I haven’t been performing well in serving you recently. I won’t ask for a gift this year. Instead, let me give you one.”

Hua Yang:……

  1. thanks! to me, this is their real first major argument, but the cause of it is kinda amusing! but it is a good improving point of their relationship! he realises that in her own way, her keeping him company as he ate, was one of the ways she showed she cared.
